The Arden Dark Terracotta Red is an Italian porcelain hexagon tile, 216 x 250mm, with a matt finish and a deep, earthy terracotta colour. The hexagon shape suits floors, walls and feature areas where you want some pattern without the upkeep of natural terracotta.
Where it works
The warm red tone brings a bit of character to kitchens, bathrooms, laundries, entries and living spaces. It reads well as a full floor or as a wall feature behind a splashback or vanity. Because it is porcelain rather than fired clay, it holds its colour and shrugs off everyday wear.
Laying and grout
Hexagons take a little more planning than square tiles, so dry-lay a section first to sort your layout and cuts at edges and corners. A grout colour close to the terracotta keeps the surface looking like one field, while a contrasting grout picks out each hexagon. The matt finish helps hide marks and footprints.
